1. पाठ का परिचय

“How I Taught My Grandmother to Read” एक बहुत ही प्रेरणादायक कहानी है। इसमें एक पोती अपनी दादी को पढ़ना सिखाती है।

दादी पढ़ी-लिखी नहीं थीं। बचपन में उन्हें स्कूल जाने का अवसर नहीं मिला था। वे पढ़ने की इच्छा तो रखती थीं, लेकिन दूसरों पर निर्भर थीं।

इस कहानी के माध्यम से लेखक ने बताया है कि—

सीखने की कोई उम्र नहीं होती।

अगर व्यक्ति के अंदर सीखने की इच्छा और मेहनत करने का साहस हो तो वह किसी भी उम्र में नई चीज सीख सकता है।

 

2. कहानी का सरल सारांश

कहानी की शुरुआत में लेखिका अपने बचपन की एक घटना बताती हैं।

लेखिका की दादी को पढ़ना नहीं आता था। वे घर के काम करती थीं और धार्मिक या दूसरी किताबें खुद पढ़ने के बजाय दूसरों से पढ़वाती थीं।

दादी को “Kashi Yatre” नाम की कन्नड़ कहानी बहुत पसंद थी। इस कहानी की लेखिका Triveni थीं।

लेखिका की दादी इस कहानी को बहुत ध्यान से सुनती थीं।

एक दिन लेखिका को कुछ समय के लिए अपनी दादी से दूर जाना पड़ा। जब वे वापस आईं तो दादी ने उनसे कहा कि वे उन्हें पढ़ना सिखाएँ।

दादी ने तय किया कि वे सरस्वती पूजा के दिन तक कन्नड़ पढ़ना सीख लेंगी।

यह उनके लिए आसान नहीं था क्योंकि उनकी उम्र अधिक थी और उन्होंने बचपन में पढ़ाई नहीं की थी।

लेकिन दादी ने हार नहीं मानी।

उन्होंने रोज मेहनत की और अपनी पोती से अक्षर और शब्द सीखने लगीं।

धीरे-धीरे उन्होंने पढ़ना सीख लिया।

सरस्वती पूजा के दिन दादी ने अपनी पोती के सामने “Kashi Yatre” को खुद पढ़कर दिखाया।

यह देखकर पोती बहुत खुश हुई।

दादी ने अपनी पोती को गुरु माना और उसके पैर छुए।

पोती के लिए यह बहुत भावुक क्षण था क्योंकि सामान्यतः बच्चे बड़े-बुजुर्गों का सम्मान करते हैं, लेकिन यहाँ दादी ने

अपनी पोती को शिक्षक मानकर उसका सम्मान किया।

 

3. कहानी का मुख्य संदेश

इस कहानी के कई महत्वपूर्ण संदेश हैं।

1. सीखने की कोई उम्र नहीं होती

व्यक्ति चाहे छोटा हो या बड़ा, यदि उसमें सीखने की इच्छा है तो वह कभी भी शिक्षा प्राप्त कर सकता है।

2. शिक्षा आत्मनिर्भर बनाती है

दादी दूसरों से किताब पढ़वाने के बजाय खुद किताब पढ़ना चाहती थीं।

इससे पता चलता है कि शिक्षा व्यक्ति को दूसरों पर निर्भर रहने से बचाती है।

3. दृढ़ निश्चय से सफलता मिलती है

दादी ने उम्र और कठिनाई की परवाह नहीं की।

उन्होंने लगातार अभ्यास किया और पढ़ना सीख लिया।

4. शिक्षक उम्र में छोटा हो सकता है

कहानी में पोती दादी की शिक्षिका बनती है।

“Kashi Yatre” कन्नड़ भाषा में लिखी गई एक लोकप्रिय कहानी/पुस्तक थी।

इसे Triveni ने लिखा था।

दादी को यह कहानी बहुत पसंद थी।

क्योंकि दादी पढ़ नहीं सकती थीं, इसलिए वे अपनी पोती से इसे पढ़वाकर सुनती थीं।
